I used AI to generate a video from a simple story. What do you think?

I wanted to see how useful generative artifical intelligence is. Having not used AI before I wrote a simple climate change story and loaded it into an online AI video engine (Invideo AI).

Below is the original story and the video that the AI tool created. I was impressed.

The source story I drafted for the test is below:

Title: Why should I do anything.

Imagine the world was a suburban neighbourhood with hundreds of houses. There are large houses, medium size houses and small houses. Some are expensive and some are modest. Some have large families living in each house and others only have a few people living in them. For a long time the sky was blue, the water was clean, the gardens were prosperous and everyone was happy.

Over recent years people have noticed that the rubbish piles that everyone was dumping on their front lawns were growing every day. Some were large and some were small, they all were smelly, attracted rats, and even started to make people sick.

Many people in the different houses began to become concerned. Some people refused to believe there was a problem. Most people said that they should reduce the amount of rubbish they dumped on the lawns but It would be hard to do.

Some people said “There is no smell, I do not believe the sickness is being caused by the rubbish and I am not going to do anything”

Many people said “I only dump a little bit of rubbish on my lawn and I am  not going to make a change until everyone else does”.

Some large and expensive houses with lots of people said “I used to dump a lot more rubbish every day but now I dump a lot less everyday so I am no longer the problem”.

Some large modest houses with lots of people said ”We have only dumped a small amount of rubbish on our front lawns every day for many years. Our rubbish pile is much smaller than the other large houses so we should not have to do anything until our rubbish pile is as big as the other houses”

At neighbourhood meetings everyone agued and blamed each over. Slowly most countries agreed to make some changes and reduce the amount of rubbish they were bumping and share knowledge on how to manage their rubbish better. It was going to be a long and slow process that many people worried would never addressed the problem.

Paul lived in a medium sized house. Paul’s house was not expensive but his family was comfortable. Paul was worried about his children’s future so I decided to do more than was agreed at the neighbourhood meeting. Paul said “it will cost me more in the short term but If I do the right thing my small contribution can help protect my children from getting sick and I can demonstrate to my neighbours that it can be done and show them how to do it”

After many years the problem was addressed and everyone looked back and said “We were not to being very smart dumping our rubbish on our front lawns, we hurt our environment and made people sick. Individual houses and people like Paul helped us change our ways and deserve our thanks and recognition”
